Gina was one of the many vervets to arrive at the sanctuary in 2007 after a harrowing ordeal. Smuggled out of Africa through the Middle East, she was confiscated from Israel in 2002. After being cared for in a primate sanctuary in Israel, she was brought back to Africa where she belongs.
Gina now lives in the sanctuary with 12 other vervet monkeys that were brought back from Israel. She spends her days in an open-topped enclosure, soaking up the beautiful African sun.
Latest Update
Like many of the other monkeys at the centre, Gina is enjoying the lush green vegetation of her enclosure. It’s just coming to the end of the rainy season, so all the trees and flowers are in full bloom, giving the monkeys plenty of places to explore.
Gina has settled in at the centre very well and as a particularly playful monkey has made lots of friends. Her cute little face is often seen peering from out from behind a trunk as she watches for her carer in the hope of receiving her favourite treat – a banana!
Our new topic is habitats and we will be looking at animals and plants and where they live. It is important that we look after our world to ensure all animals and plants survive.

We have adopted Gina for 6 months. She is a vervet monkey who enjoys the sunshine. Just like P4S!
